About

Greetings! I’m Dr. Mary E. Pettit, a veteran educator with over two decades of experience in public elementary education and the founder of Universal Digital Literacy Solutions, LLC.

I’m dedicated to providing inclusive digital literacy solutions for K-12 students. My passion lies in designing research-based curricula that promote equitable access, ensuring that every student has the tools they need to succeed in the digital age.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education from Roger Williams University in 1995 and a Master of Science in Education from Dowling College in 1997, specializing in Special Education and Literacy.

My commitment to advancing my expertise is reflected in my pursuit of National Board Certification in Literacy, which I achieved in 2020 during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. I furthered my education by earning a doctorate in Educational Leadership for Diverse Learning Communities in May 2024.

My dedication to best practices in education has been recognized through the Award of Excellence from my district in 2019.

My scholarly contributions have been featured at conferences like the Third International Conference on Literacy, Culture, and Language Education in 2022. I was also honored with the Sandra A. Morris-Aarons Alumni Scholarship Award in December 2023.

In collaboration with Playaway Products, I’ll be exploring research on misconceptions about audiobook technology in K-12 classrooms and developing strategies to overcome barriers to its effective implementation. My goal is to ensure universal access and support for all students in K-12 learning environments.
