This professional development workshop offers flexible options to meet the specific needs of your school. Participants can choose a 1-hour presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A session, a half-day session featuring practical strategies for integrating digital technology into literacy instruction using an adapted unit of study, or a full-day session that includes personal and small-group coaching. Each option is designed to provide valuable insights and actionable strategies, with the ability to customize the workshop to best support your educators and students.
This workshop guides participants in using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to incorporate digital tools into literacy instruction. Through hands-on activities and resource-sharing, attendees will explore how to support diverse learners, enhance engagement, and improve literacy outcomes. Topics include UDL principles (representation, engagement, and expression), designing inclusive lesson plans, leveraging technology to support UDL, and developing UDL-aligned assessment strategies.
Outcomes: By the end of the session, participants will be able to explain the benefits of UDL, design UDL-based lesson plans, use technology to personalize learning and improve accessibility, create inclusive, learner-centered environments, develop UDL-aligned assessments, and advocate for UDL implementation.

This cross-training workshop for librarians and schools offers flexible options to suit your institution’s unique needs. Participants can opt for a 1-hour presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A session, a half-day session focused on practical strategies for collaboration between libraries and schools to enhance digital literacy and resource management, or a full-day session featuring in-depth, personalized coaching in small groups. Each option is designed to foster meaningful partnerships and provide actionable strategies, with the flexibility to tailor the workshop to your school’s and library’s goals for improving student learning and digital access.
In this interactive professional development session, educators and librarians will engage in cross-training designed to enhance their ability to teach digital literacy, effectively manage digital resources, and engage diverse learners.
